Work Ethic
- The kibbutz movement’s work philosophy centers on the idea that German philosopher Karl Marx popularized, which stated, “From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs.” Kibbutz members realize that different individuals have different abilities and needs, and encourage each member to work to capacity while taking only what he really needs. Some members may have basic needs while others need additional medical care, care for aging parents, education stipends or financial assistance. The kibbutz tries to meet everyone’s individual needs as the kibbutz budget allows.
